Currently booked as what is likely to be the last ever performance in London, The Streets are heading to Battersea and we cannot wait from some performance trademarks such as Mike Skinners favourite crowd controlling "Go Low" (the whole audience drops to the floor) and "Go Moses" (audience parts down the middle, Skinner runs to the back and crowd surfs back to the stage) with variable success.
Groove Armada will bring their Red Light project to Friday night at Freeze, returning to the spirit of warehouses where they began. From being responsible for police having to close down Fatboy Slim’s Brighton beach party, to countless residencies in Ibiza to playing in WW1 biplanes, Groove Armada combine this DJ heritage and 10 years experience of big show production to create Red Light – a 4 deck, multi F-X, audio visual DJ experience certain to wow the crowd.
Mutli-award winning broadcaster Zane Lowe and has been showcasing some of the best new music on national radio and TV stations since 1999, becoming responsible for artists such as Arctic Monkeys, The Killers, Kasabian and Gnarls Barkley breaking into the mainstream. He has built upon this to become one of the UK’s most renowned DJs filling main stage slots across UK and international festivals. Expect a crowd pleasing mix of all the best pop, rock, dubstep and dance.
Nominated for a prestigious Mercury Prize with their debut album ‘Man Alive’, Everything Everything fuse three part harmonies with scalding post-punk guitars; floor-filling bass lines with syncopated rhythms and lyrics about everything from high-school massacres to R&B lotharios musing on their lot in a post-apocalyptic wilderness… And they look set to be one of the highlights of this year’s event!
From collaborating with Friendly Fires and taking the underground music scene by storm with their single ‘Hungry For The Power’, Torontonian quartet Azari & III – consisting of producer/musicians Dinamo Azari and Alixander III and vocalists Fritz Helder and Starving Yet Full – will bring their unique blend of moody electronica, dark yet hooky vocal choruses and analog-thick rhythms to the Main Stage at Freeze.
Getting the seal of approval from the likes of Mark Hoppus of Blink 182 and Dave Grohl, The Joy Formidable released their debut album ‘The Big Roar’ earlier this year to critical acclaim. The Welsh trio – Ritzy, Rhydian and Mark – will rock the main stage on Saturday with their anthemic grungey pop before they take to the road in the US for an epic tour with the Foo Fighters.
Growing up through the UK emo and hardcore scenes, Daniel P Carter has played bass in UK pop-punk legends A as well as being a part time guitarist for The Bloodhound Gang. He currently hosts The Rock Show on Radio 1 and will be bringing a DJ set rammed with classics to Battersea Power Station.
Blazing back onto the scene with their second album ‘Don’t Say We Didn’t Warn You’ earlier this year, Does It Offend You, Yeah? will be bringing their raucous noise – which mixes pop, electro, indie, punk and everything in between into their own unique blend – to the Energy Sessions stage. Whatever your musical preference, they’re sure to get the crowd rocking.
Leeds based post-hardcore band Pulled Apart by Horses have spearheaded the new breed of hardcore inspired bands in the UK. Favoured by national music magazines and DJs, their sometimes angular, aggressive, amp-melting blend of rock riffs and contemporary alt-noise has led to them being heralded as one of the best live acts in Britain, blowing crowds away at their own gigs and festivals alike.
Dirtyphonics have been smashing up the biggest parties worldwide since 2006. Developing a highly acclaimed and original live performance, they incorporate turntables, MPCs, filters and effects with no computers to be seen. Straight from killing it at this summer’s festivals they’re back for one of their last UK performances of the year.
